HUGE VICTORY!!!! The U.S. Bureau of Land Management just posted this announcement of a proposed rulemaking, stating that the BLM is now “working on various aspects of ensuring that forests on Federal lands, including old and mature forests, are managed to: “promote their continued health and resilience; retain and enhance carbon storage; conserve biodiversity; mitigate the risk of wildfires; enhance climate resilience; enable subsistence and cultural uses; provide outdoor recreational opportunities; and promote sustainable local economic development.”

Wild Heritage, and in particular Chief Scientist Dr. Dominick DellaSala played a critical role in making this happen, through cutting edge research and persistent advocacy. We hope other federal land management agencies will follow this announcement with announcements of their own very soon!
